How far the vehicle can travel on a charge.
How long the battery remains usable before its performance or capacity becomes unacceptable.
A bike can have excellent range but still have poor long-term battery durability.
Likewise, a battery can remain healthy for years while the rider gets different range depending on speed, traffic, load and weather.
Consider two riders using the same electric bike.

Frequent high-speed riding

Even though they're riding the same model, their energy consumption and battery experience can be very different.
